If you've never heard of Hollywood Undead until now I should really apologize for bringing them to your attention at this time.

They are a music group that has become one of the most popular "artists" on MySpace. This may be the single most damning fact of young people's taste in music ever presented. Or at least one assumes they have become popular due to young people. It's hard to imagine anyone over 15 listening to this music without breaking into uncontrollable laughter.

Why is that? Because as I wrote at the MusicByDay.com blog, Hollywood Undead is the worst music of all time. It is the combination of every cheesy element in popular music from the past 15 or so years. It's some sort of ungodly mix of boy band music with "street" lyrics and screamo shouting.

And yet as I write this they are the #4 ranked unsigned "artist" on all of MySpace. Looking at the other top "artists" (and yes I insist on putting "artists" in quotes over and over again as it's an absolutely ridiculous word to use to describe these folks) you can see that Hollywood Undead is certainly not the only one who sucks mighty. In fact it appears that only musical acts/groups that are incredibly bad have a shot at making the top artist list.

Garbage sells and it has for some time. I suppose that's nothing new.

What is it that Hollywood Undead that sets them apart? What is it that has me writing articles about them? It's that they are so unbelievably awful that one has to believe it's some sort of joke. And yes I think there is some evidence that this is actually all an elaborate joke. A joke on the people that actually listen to this and think it's real music. But then there still lies the issue. There are thousands, maybe even a million or more, people who listen to Hollywood Undead and think "this is really good."

That concerns me greatly. I just don't understand how this garbage can pass for really good music to these folks. Have they really not experienced any actual good music in their lives? That's the only thing I can think of that explains it. For anyone who has heard real music, Hollywood Undead is laughable garbage. So these people must have never been exposed to it. That's the only explanation I can think of.

If you go to the blog (http://www.MusicByDay.com) where I posted my article on Hollywood Undead being the worst music of all time you can see that there are currently over 100 comments that are mostly from HU fans saying that Hollywood Undead is in fact good music. It just blows my mind. I have a very hard time understanding how anyone could listen to this music and not think it is merely a joke.

I'm sorry to say that I don't have any answers, only questions. How is it that such an awful group has so many fans yet there are many talented unsigned bands/artists that get no attention at all?

If you can only afford the cheapest acoustic model available, you should place the Epiphone DR-100 at the top of your list . Now, this particular guitar, priced reasonably at $120-$150, is truly meant for beginners and, as such, you will have to trade up to a more sophisticated option once your skills have improved considerably.

Even if you are on a budget, you should try to avoid buying the under $100 guitars you can find at local discount stores. Surprisingly, a cheap, low quality acoustic beginner guitar is actually considered harder to play even by more experienced guitar players. The explanation for this has to do with the fact that they are cheaply made with an overly high action, which means there is too much space between the strings and the fingerboard. Beginners and experts alike find this flaw frustrating.

If your budget is going to keep you from spending more than $100 for an acoustic beginner guitar, you should think in terms of a used one. Each secondhand guitar seems to have its own set of quirks. If you see two of the same brand and model in a guitar shop, be sure to try them both. Each will have a somewhat different tone and feel, which guitarists insist reflects the prior owners' different personalities.

Ever hear the saying, "never buy a guitar from a jerk"? Whether a guitar picks up a "personality" from it's owner is a point to be debated, however most guitar owners treat their instruments like people. So when you look for your first acoustic beginner guitar keep this in mind. Pay attention to the guitar's "vibe", and even if it sounds great, but doesn't feel right somehow, pass on it.

If you are a beginner, it's best to ask the salesperson to demonstrate and play the acoustic beginner guitar you are thinking about buying. You should learn how to do this if you want to participate in DJ activities such as scratching competitions and club DJ professions. DJ scratch samples can help you to learn various techniques and methods of scratching, as well as what the different types of scratching sound like. The first thing that you should learn when you want to learn how to scratch is the basic steps of scratching.

When you pick up any other instrument, you always start by learning single notes before you learn to put them together into a song. The same is true for DJ scratching. You need to learn single steps, such as babies, marches, drags, and tips, before you can move on to combinations. These single steps are known to the DJ world as foundation scratches. The most important thing to remember when you are learning to scratch and create your own scratching samples is to take it slow. You cannot expect to learn how to do this overnight. Recent events in the UK have fuelled the debate over dogs and children. The death of a five month old baby after being attacked by two Rottweilers has saddened and shocked everybody and our thoughts go out to that poor family. For a while there may well be an over-reaction but lets keep a clear head and look at the facts and what can be done to help keep children (and dogs) safe. The thoughts that follow are not the voice of an expert but they are an informed opinion. My interest in animal behavior is that of a hobby not a career.

Its very rare for a dog to attack a child

The most likely cause of an attack is teasing NEVER tease or provoke a dog, however friendly

Most family dogs accept and protect the family children but should never be left alone with them.

Stand still if a dog threatens you. It is instinctive for a dog to chase something moving.

Generally watch out for growling, pricked upright ears pointing at you and a stiff tail held high. (Unfortunately some dogs so enjoy a chase that they may wag their tails as if they were friendly when they are not, so try to get to understand doggie body language.)

The best defense is to become familiar with dogs and their signals.

Most barking, excited dogs you meet in parks may wish to chase you but are not intending you harm.

Dogs are not generally aggressive unless trained to be so. The danger lies in play which gets out of hand. Dogs are not little people in fur coats. They brains work differently from ours. They can hurt a child accidentally because they dont realize their actions will harm them.

Two or more dogs are more likely to get too excited and go into attack mode. The pack instinct rises up.

The only way a dog can tell you it doesnt like something is to move away or nip. Teach children not to pester dogs who are trying to get away.

A distressed dog will sometimes warn by snapping into the air. This is only intended to communicate their displeasure but they can catch a child in the face accidentally.

Dont touch a strange dog without checking with the owner that its okay first.

Take extra precautions if your dog shows any jealousy towards a child. You may want to consider whether you should keep him in those circumstances.

Treat dogs with respect, as fellow creatures not playthings. Dont rob them of their heritage and dignity. The relationship between humans and dogs has been rewarding on both sides. Lets celebrate that.

In the US and much of the Western world, we equate money with happiness, even though our personal experience seldom gives us reason to believe that the old saying "you can't buy happiness" is anything less than true. We assure ourselves that if we only get a raise or get a better job or win the lottery, all of the stress of daily life will disappear and we'll have time for those things in life we really enjoy.

This would be true, at least partially, if making more money allowed us to have more money in the bank. However, each raise in pay also raises our desire to spend, so a promotion at work can actually put us farther into debt. How many people do we know who bring in over $100,000 a year who are still living paycheck to paycheck? How many lottery winners end up in bankruptcy court, wondering where all the money went and how they managed to make such a muddle of this windfall that should have set them up for a lifetime of financial security?

An option to spending as much or more than you make every month is to live frugally - and it's refreshing to see the increase in interest in the voluntary simplicity movement. Being intentionally frugal can actually bring you the financial security that a high-paying job cannot. In fact, if you go one step further to voluntary poverty, as I have, you may be able to quit that job and actually do something that could really make you feel fulfilled.

The one frugal living tip that makes the biggest difference is to simply keep track of everything you spend for at least a month. You probably won't keep it up for much longer than that, but it will give you an idea of where your money is going, and whether or not the money you spend on each item is really giving you the satisfaction you're paying for.

However, just keeping track won't help much unless you have a vision of another way of life that would really give you pleasure or contentment. Saving money for it's own sake feels like a sacrifice, but saving money so you can retire early and start that little farm you've always wanted would be a goal worth working for. Creating that goal may take some true soul searching and many deep conversations with your family.

When you come up with a goal you all agree on, decide how much time it will take to get there - this time frame is important, and you should be as realistic as you can. Do you want to own your own home without a mortgage? Will it take 5 years of frugal living? Or 10? Would you like to retire all your credit card debt? How long will it take?

Once you have that goal in mind, the best way to start putting money in the bank is to notice where you're spending your money now.

One thing most people discover is that the simple act of jotting down the $3 you spend on coffee every morning, plus every other small or large expenditure, will magically cause you to have money left over that you ever had before. Keeping track causes us to be mindful of our choices, and even without adding up any numbers or making any deep decisions, we save money by spending more consciously.

Once you have at least a few weeks' worth of figures, you're ready to get out the calculator. Divide the items on your list into any categories that seem reasonable - such as lunch at work, utilities, dog food... Then add up the columns to see how much you really spend.

Then, go one step further to give yourself a true shock - multiply the amount you spend on each unnecessary category, like your morning coffee at Starbucks, by the number of months you think it will take you to reach that long-term goal.

If you spend $3.50 each working day at the local coffee shop, it doesn't seem like a very big deal. Multiply that by the average of 20 working days a month, and you may be startled to realize that you spend $70 a month on coffee that you could make yourself in your own kitchen. But the real eye-opener comes when you multiply that $70 times the number of months you need to reach your goal of financial security.

If you are willing to spend 5 years in frugal living to pay down the mortgage on your house or pay off all your credit cards, multiply your monthly coffee money by 60 months, and you'll see $4200 on your calculator screen. That 's enough money for a down payment on a reasonably priced house, or to buy a good used car for your teenager. It's also enough to pay at least several month's mortgage payments, or to put in the bank for a medical emergency. $3.50 isn't an important amount of money, but to almost anyone I know, $4200 is a serious amount of cash.

Do the same calculation for everything on your list that isn't truly necessary, and you may discover that you can reduce the amount of time you need to reach your long-term goal by several years or more. If your credit card debts are weighing you down and causing daily stress, this simple frugal living tip could lead to a complete elimination of debt in just a year or less. In my mind, that's more important than a fancy cup of coffee.
